After Mike Matheny took the reigns as Cardinals’ manager following the Cardinals’ 2011 World Series championship, the Cardinals haven’t been able to quite reach that point again, and they are only getting worse.

MLB 7/1/2018 Rundown

Yankees Destroy Red Sox, Win Series

The Yankees took the crucial rubber match against the Red Sox, scoring nine of their eleven runs off of homers.  Catcher Kyle Higashioka launched his first career homer to go along with five other Yankees long balls.  Aaron Hicks led the offense with three homers and four RBIs. Luis Severino pitched a gem, giving no runs and only two hits across 6 2/3 innings.  Red Sox southpaw David Price, however, did not do so well, giving up eight runs (all earned) in 3 1/3 innings, as well as five of New York’s six home runs. Astros Send Correa to DL

All-star SS Carlos Correa was sent to the 10-day DL on Thursday.  Correa had passed the last two games with back stiffness. The SS has batted .268 with 13 homers and 49 RBI.
