Vinnie Hinostroza was the most important piece of the trade that was sent away from Chicago when it comes to on-ice production. Marian Hossa’s contract and salary cap hit was the focal point and the reason for the trade, but since he is not playing anymore, Hinostroza becomes the second biggest part of the trade.
Hinostroza was a candidate to play in the right wing slot on the Saad-Toews line for next season. He also could have filled in as a depth center somewhere throughout the lineup. He provided offensive depth after being called up from Rockford. He averaged nearly a point a game last season in the AHL while scoring 25 points in 50 games (averaging a point every two games). His 18 assists were seventh on the Blackhawks last year, despite Hinostroza playing in only 50 games.
Vinnie Hinostroza should have an impact on the Arizona Coyotes’ roster. Although he showed promise, despite his size and the fact that he was a sixth-round draft pick, he should be replaceable on the wings, just as Jordan Oesterle should be replaceable on the blue line.
