The last tangible part of the Hossa salary dump with Arizona is 23-year-old AHL center, Jordan Maletta.
Maletta has played two seasons in the AHL. In the 2016-17 season, Maletta tallied 23 points in 76 games. He only scored four points in 28 games for the Cleveland Monsters, the Columbus Blue Jackets’ AHL affiliate, before he got traded to the Arizona Coyotes. He only played one game for the Tucson Roadrunners of the AHL due to a hand injury.
Jordan Maletta appears to be merely a piece that will just be moved around throughout NHL farm systems. At 23, his chances of making the NHL aren’t done, necessarily, but they do look slim.
Maletta went into professional hockey undrafted. Like Andrew Campbell, Maletta will report to the Rockford IceHogs. The fifth and final acquisition the ‘Hawks received was Arizona’s fifth-round selection for the 2019 NHL Entry Draft.
