Toronto Maple Leafs forward James Van Riemsdyk is going to sign with Flyers, the team who drafted him at second overall behind Patrick Kane in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
For Toronto, this would at least give them more cap room to invest into John Tavares.
Last season, JVR carried a $4.25 million cap hit last year for the Leafs. His new contract will be a 5 year/ $35 million, carrying a cap hit of $7 million a year each season.
Once again, this at least leaves more room for Toronto to put into Tavares. As for Philly, they will get their second overall pick from 2007 back after he left them in 2012 to head to Toronto.
