Astros Send Correa to DL
All-star SS Carlos Correa was sent to the 10-day DL on Thursday. Correa had passed the last two games with back stiffness. The SS has batted .268 with 13 homers and 49 RBI.
Cubs Break Out Bats, Split Series in LA
The Cubs were able to stay in front of the Dodgers with an 11-5 win to end their 8 game road trip. The game was tied 3-3 going into the 7th when the Cubs bats woke up and scored 7 runs in one inning, which was more runs then they had scored in all but one of the previous games on their road trip. Addison Russell drove in 4 runs, including a 7th inning two-run homer. The Cubs stay 1.5 games ahead of the Dodgers after a 2-6 road trip.
Machado hits Home Run Number 20
Young Baltimore shortstop Manny Machado launched his twentieth long ball of the 2018 season. Machado is a prime trade target for competitive teams in the major leagues and will be a top free agent in a busy offseason this upcoming winter. The Mariner ended up winning 4-2 in ten innings.
Zach Greinke Dominates Miami
Diamondbacks pitcher Zach Greinke threw 7 shutout innings, striking out 6. On the other side of the dish, however, Greinke hit 2 singles, drove in a run, scored a run and even stole a base. The D-backs won 4-0.
Twins Win Low Scoring Affair in Chi-town
The Twins won 2-1 in 13 innings Thursday afternoon in a game that lasted nearly five hours. They were up 1-0 heading into the bottom of the ninth, but yielded a run on a bases loaded walk. The Twins avoided a sweep, and they will stay in Chicago as they head up north to play the Cubs at Wrigley Field.
Rockies Win Wild Game in San Francisco
The Rockies edged out the Giants 9-8 that featured a few blown leads for both teams. The Rockies yielded two runs in the bottom of the 9th to go down 8-7, but then countered with two of their own on a DJ LeMahieu two-run homer.
Red Sox Beat Angels on National TV
The Red Sox defeated LA 4-2 on Thursday night. Jackie Bradley Jr.’s two-run homer in the bottom of the 7th gave the Red Sox a three-run lead.Hector Velazquez improved to 6-0 on the season. The Angels fell to an even 41-41, while the Red Sox are now one game ahead of the Yankees.
